Kin Folk Featured In #MusicLov3rz June!

Image
Kin-Folk means family or cousin in southern culture. We happen to be that for real. It started with G. Macbeth, DJ Nard X and Twuan Twuan in which we are first cousins. Then we added family friends DJ LEO The Lion, DJ Incognito, DJ A. Chill, Duhran “Oh Mr. Wilson” on trumpet, and Uncle Cam on percussion. This made us a band too! God has been taking us through a lot and we are better for it. We originally complained until we saw God working on us as He worked through us. We started rapping at our home baptist church. In the 2000’s it was very controversial, but luckily, we had the support of our Pastor Dr. Rev. York Hayes. He wasn’t a rap fan but he was a fan of any talent or skill you used for the cause of Christ. We took our walk seriously so he had no doubt that we were serious. I was born in poverty to a mother who would beat me. I wet the bed till I was about 15, uncontrollably. I would wake up soaked and then to the belt. My mother would beat me because I peed the bed. Then she would make cornmeal (which I hated and refused to eat) and I would receive my second whooping of the day. Then I had to go to school smelling like urine. They would belittle me and emasculate me with vulgar names in Spanish. It felt like they hated me. I say all this so you can see what led up to the waste of two decades of my life.   My first attempt at suicide I was 9 years old. I climbed out on the ledge of the third floor window. I stood out there for 30 minutes. Freezing , crying, and confused, I stood on that ledge and imagined what it would be like if I did it.   I realized something on that balcony, they don...

When the disciples were fighting about who would be the greatest in the Kingdom and wondering who should be great, Jesus encouraged them by stating, "If you want to be great, this is how you should do it."
